Elton Mhango is an experienced Malawian journalist with more than 12 years of frontline experience across community and national media platforms. Since 2017, he has served as a correspondent for Nation Publications Limited (NPL), where he provides daily coverage of politics, governance, climate change, environmental issues, and current affairs.

Before joining NPL, Elton served as Head of News at Mzimba Community Radio, where he provided editorial leadership and strengthened newsroom operations. His career also includes contributing to the Malawi Electoral Commission’s Media Department and supporting media, governance, and public accountability projects with a range of organisations.

Throughout his career, Elton has remained committed to ethical journalism, accuracy, and public accountability. He has reported on and supported investigative journalism covering issues such as COVID-19 response accountability, illegal mining, Constituency Development Fund (CDF) transparency, governance, climate change, and gender-based violence. His reporting is recognised for its strong public-interest focus, community-centred perspective, and deep understanding of local issues.

Since 2024, Elton has served as General Secretary of the Nyika Media Club (NMC), a regional association of media practitioners in Northern Malawi. In this role, he promotes professional development, collaboration, and high journalistic standards among media practitioners across the region.

On this project, Elton will support story research, field reporting, source development, and digital content production. He will also lead the preparation of social media packages, short explanatory content, and audience engagement materials to extend the reach and impact of the project’s climate solutions journalism.
